1. I love this
adorable purse because of the cute crocheting. Definitely makes it unique.
2. I really like these
gloves because of the nautical theme that is achieved through the colours and cute vintage buttons.
A few days ago the president of the Maldives, Mohamed Nasheed, and his cabinet ministers held an official cabinet meeting underwater, in an attempt to raise to awareness about climate change. The event was part of
350.org and with a small population of 350,000, the Maldives are admirable as they have 14 events planned. Why can't Sydney or Australia be more like this :)
1. I want to try out these cute
little finger puppets. I can totally see my friend and I wearing these as we go to see the "
Where the Wild Things Are" movie.
2. One of my best friends and co writer of this blog gave me the new
Frankie book for my birthday! I love it to bits :) click the link to buy for yourself
3. I just signed up on Wadrobe Refashion . I can;t wait for my first challenge :)
4. I'm loving this site called
Covert Candy. It allows you to upload photos of your unwanted clothing that you think someone else in the world might like. You get credits when someone purchases you clothes and you can use your credits to purchase other clothes on the website. While this site does not avoid the problem of shipping clothes (which uses up valuable water and energy) it does promote recycling :)
5. How beautiful is this ring from
CRED! This ring is from their
upcoming collection with Sophie Harley (whose jewellery designs were featured in
Casino Royale). This
GMS article is very imformative. All CRED jewellery is gorgeous and of course fair trade.
6. I'm loving the
Corker Gallery. Such interesting stuff, especially this cute plushie and drawing that reminds me of a poster I got in Frankie magazine...hmmmm. I plan to visit this gallery if I'm ever in Fitzroy.
I've hated the idea that although you can buy fair trade chocolate, I can never find any fair trade chocolate dishes or desserts. But it's
National Chocolate Week in the UK. While this means a lot of un fair trade chocolate (which really pushes my buttons), it also means some fair trade chocolate e.g UK brand Divine.
Divine Chocolate is the only fair trade company that co-owned by the cocoa farmers. The farmers have a share of a whopping 45%. Pretty sweet deal.
Divine has a whole list of
recipes involving their fair trade chocolate. While we can not get Divine in Australia, I'm sure you could substitute it for Oxfam chocolate or Cocolo Chocolate (cocolo is available at Coles.)
They also have a Chocolate and Raspberry truffle bites recipe, using their new raspberry chocolate. Don't they look awesome with the marbled covering and a cute little flake on top.
This cute
little notebook set features a map of Tokyo on the cover. I love the little map and it won't set you back too much.
I can see this little
cushion fitting into my room quite nicely. But if buying I would definitely go for a custom order. Colourful, arty house anyone?
This
1950s Baby blue Smith Corona typewriter is beautiful. I really want it and the seller makes it sound like a bargain, but what would I do with a typewriter...
This is my silk painting that I did of a girl under an umbrella. Not bad for a first attempt at this design with this annoying fabric (not silk) but it needs improving. Her feet got cut off because I started too far down with the raindrops.
P.S: Sorry you'll have to turn your head.
I just watched the
video of Estethica, the ethical fashion display at
London Fashion Week. I spoke about Estethica a while ago and shamefully it has taken me this long to realise there was a video on my beloved
Green My Style homepage. Take a look at the video because it's really interesting and makes me once again wish that I lived in London....or that Australia was somewhat closer.
A usual day of floating through blogs has led to me to discover various crafts that I am excited to try out.
Even though christmas is reasonably far away, I don't think it is actually enough time for me to complete this cute
felted christmas tree, given my procrastination history. Maybe next year :)
This
lunch bag, on the other hand, looks very easy and quick to make. I love the fact that it looks like a notbook. What would you write on the side? I also like that it provides a use for those daft giant clips.
And even though the cold weather has past us (hopefully), these
fingerless gloves are just too snazzy to pass up, even if I do usually prefer long gloves.
Finally, I discovered that New York City (to add to it's long list of amazing traits) has an event called the
NYC Yarn Crawl. We need one of these in Sydney. No doubt there's probably one in Melbourne and it will get mentioned in Frankie. For such an unappealing place, Melbourne sure has it's fair share of attractive events.
Alexander McQueen is a genius. I've always known that. But his
latest collection at
Paris Fashion Week for Spring 2010 has
blown everyone away., including me. What makes his collection even better is that although it is not made of fair trade or eco materials, it is promoting the idea of environmental sustainability.....and also....just look at these shoes!
Do you like hand sanitiser? I've always thought of it as a bit strange. I much prefer the feeling of washing away germs with soap and water but that's because I think I have mild OCD. I've also been told that hand sanitiser is bad for your skin if you use it often. But since washing your hands uses up water (and Australia is in a drought) maybe I should give
Frais hand sanitiser a go. It is after all completely eco friendly and natural :)
