Margaux Lange

Margaux Lange makes jewellery out of unconventional materials: body parts from barbie dolls. They are somewhat confronting and uncomfortable but at the same time I think they're amazing and such a good way to recycle barbie dolls which would most probably otherwise end up in landfill.

brooch made from barbie hands

earrings made from barbie or ken ears

she also makes some pieces out of barbie accessories, such as these barbie shoes:

bracelet

rings

You can buy a variety of Margaux Lange's pieces from her etsy site. I love her tagline: "Re-Membering Barbie fondly".

Water

This certainly gets the message across. A very creative idea.

Lisa Mitchell

On friday I went to lovely Lisa's concert (supported by Boy and Bear and Georgia Fair)
Boy and Bear were great, I really enjoyed them. I was 'scouting them out' to see if they were any good live. And they were. So now my friend and I plan to see them by themselves soon hopefully. Georgia Fair were good too, just not lively enough for my taste. But anyone who likes Georgia Fair should definitely see them live. All the boys in these support bands were quite adorable. I especially loved how the lead singer of Boy and Bear kept taking a swig of beer between songs.
Now to discuss Lisa. This absolutely beautiful girl is an amazing performer. I was in love with her clothes and her voice and generally the night was just great. She said our audience was the biggest audience she'd ever had at one of her own concerts. I hope she enjoyed it.
Thank you very much Miss Mitchell. I hope it is not too long before I get to see her again.

City adventures

+
Yesterday I went into the city and I passed 'White by Kikki.K' (Kikki.K's cute concept store.) The bike with the beautiful basket is the best bit.
Opposite the store is another stylish shop called Funkis. The swedish design, warm colours and eco friendly clog style shoes caught my eye. Their online shop has great fabrics.

I finally tried a cupcake from The Cupcake Bakery under the QVB. I'd always wanted to try one so I gave their banana and walnut a go. Gosh it was good. I highly reccomend it.
